A PILLAR OF HOPE

Millicent is only eight months old when her mother dies, three years when her stepmother kidnaps her, and four years old when an uncle brutally rapes her. She starts her adult life sharing a cartoon room in a notorious Nairobi slum. Her journey, from dodging flying toilets in the slum to becoming a homeowner in Germany, while supporting her whole family is epic. Through beatings, betrayal, kidnapping, domestic abuse, police harassment, stalkers, landlords, cunning lawyers, ridicule, racism, discrimination, language barriers, colour bar, disease, multiple surgeries, and immeasurable personal loss, she perseveres and keeps her dream alive. Amid it all, she has her moments of laughter, love, adventure, luck, and fun.
