Uche Okonkwo

Uche Okonkwo is a Nigerian writer and scholar raised in Lagos. She holds an M.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Manchester, an M.F.A. in Fiction from Virginia Tech, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in English at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. A former managing editor at Kachifo Limited, her literary honors include the Steinbeck and George Bennett Fellowships, alongside residencies at MacDowell and Tin House. Her short fiction has been published in leading literary journals such as One Story, Ploughshares, and Kenyon Review, and her story "Animals" was shortlisted for the 2024 Caine Prize for African Writing.
